We are blessed to have a dedicated group of all volunteer coaches who have played at the high school and collegiate levels. We are currently looking for assistant coaches with lacrosse experience. College students, professionals or anyone else with experience, a love for the game and a desire to teach the skills and values of the game is welcome. We are pleased to announce that registration for the 2025 spring lacrosse season is now open. Oconee Lacrosse is a recreational program open to boys and girls of all abilities in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Registration Fee- $275.00 STARTING 10/23/2024. A discount of $25 per player for families registering more than one player. Registration fees go toward uniforms; pennies; practice field rentals; referees for games; Newtown fee and team equipment.
Membership in US Lacrosse is required of all players and you will be required to enter your membership number to register a player on our site. The membership fee is $30. for 12 months from joining or renewing. Please sign up today at http://www.uslacrosse.org/membership.aspx. US Lacrosse membership should not expire during the season (1/20/2025 - 5/31/25).
Visa and Mastercard credit cards will be accepted. When registering, you may choose to make split payments which will automatically be applied to the payment method you choose. A $100. deposit will be due upon registration and the remaining balance will be due on December 19, 2024. Payments will automatically be deducted from your original credit card on the dates noted above.
Boys Lacrosse-Practice will begin the January 17TH 2025. Teams will practice 2-3 times per week once the games begin. Game schedules for the season will be announced in February with games on Saturdays in Newtown as part of the Newtown Lacrosse League. The Newtown Championship Games will be beginning May 2025.
ALL EQUIPMENT NEEDS TO BE FURNISHED BY THE PLAYER.
Players on any of the girls teams will need a girls lacrosse stick, lacrosse eye protection and a mouthguard. The estimated cost of girls equipment is $100-$400 depending on brand and quality.
All boys players will need a lacrosse stick, NOCSAE certified helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, mouthguard and a protective athletic cup. The estimated cost of boys equipment is $150-$600 depending on brand and quality.
There are several online retailers that offer the equipment individually or in starter packs. In Athens, Dick's Sporting Goods is a good source. Look for Dick's lacrosse day with discounted equipment sometime in December.
A copy of a current sports related physical for your player performed by a physician will be required.
Who we play- Boys and girls K-3 will practice a at OVP/Herman C If you have an experienced 3rd grader who would like to play up on the lightning team please let us know.
Boys teams in grades 4-8 will play in the Newtown Lacrosse League. Most of the games will be played at parks in Newtown.
Boys participate in the Newtown Lacrosse League for all games. There is no additional cost, but you will be required to correctly complete Electronic forms (Eforms) and submit them electronically.

The Oconee Youth Lacrosse Association is made up of parents of the players on our teams. To operate a successful program, all parents should be prepared to volunteer during the season for various team activities.
